Annual Activities by Month
These are just a few of the activities our club participates in each year. In addition, our Service Committees provide ongoing community services throughout the year.
January
- Christmas Tree Recycling - On the first Saturday of the month after New Year the Issaquah High School Key Club works with Kiwanians picking up Christmas trees in the South Cove/Greenwood Point area to be composted at Cedar Grove Compost.
February
- The Auction committee starts contacting future donors for the auction.
- Begin soliciting nominations for Environmental Award, Spiritual Values Award and Volunteer of the Year Awards.
March
- Fun Fair at the Pickering Barn in Issaquah, a gathering of hobbyists, local clubs and organizations.
April
- PNW District Key Club Convention
- Annual Kiwanis Auction. All proceeds go to organizations we support.
May
- At Relay for Life, we take care of the food concession.
- Present the Environmental Award, Spiritual Values Award and Volunteer of the Year Awards at the Issaquah Community Awards Luncheon.
June
- Mountain to Sound Greenway Fair
- International Kiwanis Convention
July
- At Concerts on the Green, we manage the food concessions.
August
- Concerts on the Green, food concessions.
- Annual Kiwanis picnic hosted by a Kiwanian and the Social Committee.
- Pacific Northwest District Kiwanis Convention
September
- At the annual Installation Dinner at Gibson Hall, we welcome our new president and board members.
October
- At Salmon Days we bake fresh coho salmon and provide the best lunch and dinner for patrons. This is one of our major fund raisers. All proceeds go to the organizations we support.
November
- Members join Key Club in buying, putting together and distributing Thanksgiving baskets.
December
- Kiwanis members help in putting up lights on the Front Street Christmas Tree.
- We provide "Christmas Tree Giving Baskets" to 12-18 individuals who have registered their needs with the Issaquah Valley Food Bank.
