Legislation 2023: a preview from our state officials
By: Anne Frances Owen ~ 11/30/2022

On Jan. 9, the WA state legislature will convene its first ever hybrid session, which will last 90 days. This year, some meetings will be held in only Olympia; others, such as hearings in which everyday citizens can share their perspectives, will allow remote participation.

Rep. Bill Ramos, Rep. Lisa Callan, and Sen. Mark Mullet spoke to our club about a wide variety of issues, including:

  • salmon protection
  • criminal justice and public safety
  • drug possession
  • behavioral health
  • budgets
  • medical staffing
  • housing policies
