Kiwanis of Issaquah presents a special showing of the documentary SPAWNING GROUNDS for Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs on Thursday, November 19, 2020 7:00pm – 8:30pm
Spawning Grounds chronicles a critical season in the life of Kokanee salmon in Lake Sammamish. The film follows a newcomer fish biologist, a wealthy landowner turned advocate, and a young Indigenous educator as they dedicate their lives to recovering this sentinel “Little Red Fish”. Amid development pressures, economic challenges and a rapidly warming lake habitat, this unlikely marriage of community members must conduct real time since and education as they try to push through the worst Kokanee season yet.
After the film’s showing there will be a panel discussion with the film maker and other experts in the field. Below is a link to a trailer of the movie: https://vimeo.com/321415261
