The Lake Sammamish Polar Plunge is back

Take a New Year's Day plunge into the icy waters at Lake Sammamish State Park. Whoop and holler as you jump in the lake and celebrate the start of 2021!

Participants that want to plunge in the lake will plunge in groups of five to adhere to COVID safety protocols. Plunging at the park will take place 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 1 at Sunset Beach. For people who prefer to plunge virtually, they can plunge from anywhere pool, hot tub, bathtub or just with a garden hose!

Thanks to sponsor Aegis of Issaquah, the first 200 registrants will receive a souvenir Polar Plunge neck gaiter that doubles as a protective mask! As an extra bonus, plungers will also get a coupon for a free cup of clam chowder from Ivar's. The gaiter and coupon will be mailed to those who choose to plunge by photo.

Registrations will be taken online only. There will be no day-of sign ups and time slots are assigned with pre-registration. Please note that mask wearing and social distancing will be enforced. Participants and spectators cannot congregate in groups larger than five.

The registration fee of $10 is a donation to Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park, a 501c(3) non-profit dedicated to supporting, promoting and enhancing the park for the benefit of the entire community.

January 1, 2021 is a free day at the park, so no Discover Pass or parking fee will be needed.

FLSSP reserves the right to cancel the lake plunge at the park if Washington State Parks or King County health officials change COVID protocols.
